Day 12, 13 14 - Anchorage, Girdwood, Wasilla, Palmer

We spent our first night at Sam's Club Anchorage since we arrived very late.

We then went to Ship Creek RV park where they had all size campers from tents to Big rigs.  This was near Ship Creek where all the salmon are and consequently a bear had been using the woods by the RV park to eat his fish. There was a posting about it to warn everyone to be careful.  There was a curious Red bus with sleeping berths called a ROTEL.  We checked it out online and saw it as an alternative inexpensive means of touring.  A rolling hostel.

We spent the night and went to our Cummins RV appointment for the EGR Cooling sensor problem. We met 2 couples who were also having problems. One had to be towed from Seward.  We were thankful that we had so far not had to be towed. In the RV community we tend to be prepared for a surprise each day we travel.

We talked about where we were traveling and got tips on things to do in the area.  Went to a wildlife game reserve (highly recommended).  We saw elk, caribou, eagles, bull moose, minx, grizzly and black bears in natural habitats.  We then traveled to Girdwood / Aleyeska resort where you can visit an old gold mine and take a tram to the top of their ski area. This is near a train stop that picks up passengers to go to Denali and back as part of the Princess cruise tours. We then had great pizza at Uncle Joe's in Anchorage.

Next day side trip went to Wasilla, Palmer. Ate at the Noisy Goose a local favorite for lunch.
