Day 3 - 4 Canadian Border to Banff Lake Louise

Left Glacier and crossed the Canadian border. Canada also has several national parks in the area we plan to visit in the future. Chatted a bit with a Canadian gentleman at a rest area who was on his way to visit his son in the US.  We loved the birch tree park that was across from where we stopped so we got a photo.

Passed by Calgary and Canada Olympic Park. Calgary was large and very low so we can see how it might flood. Flooding had closed roads prior to our planning causing us to possibly change routes. Fortunately we did not encounter any detours.

We drove on to Banff and Lake Louise.  It was Canada Day (7/1) so free entry fee but main campgrounds full. They had a nice overflow campground which only a few of us found, so quiet and no fireworks or crowds.

The official campgrounds had electric fence to protect tent campers from bears. Interesting as we compared this to Africa Krueger Park where the Gate closes and if you aren't in the perimeter you are prey for the wildlife.

There were a lot of overpasses with natural landscapes built on them to encourage the wildlife to cross and stay off the highway.  (see photo).
